International Hummus Day
Celebrate International Hummus day at the JCC by learning how to make this delightful, and nutritious spread that is popular in world cuisine. Hummus has been around for centuries and remains one of the most versatile and healthy staples in many diets. Participants will learn how to make the dish, taste it, and learn about this nutritional powerhouse’s role in healthy eating.

National Herbs & Spices Day
National herbs & spices day is dedicated to recognizing the invaluable role herbs and spices play in enhancing our food, health, and well-being. Whether you are adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to your coffee or making a flavorful curry with cumin and coriander, herbs and spices transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. Participants will learn about spice pairings, the health benefits of herbs and spices, and taste a dish featuring different spices.

National Blueberry Day
Let’s celebrate National Blueberry day! Blueberries are a group of plants with blue or purple berries, native to North America. They contain some important vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants that support good health. Participants will learn about the health benefits of blueberries and sample a fun blueberry dish.

National Goat Cheese Month
Celebrate National goat cheese month at the JCC! Goat cheese was first made some 9,000 years ago when the first goats were domesticated by humans. Goat cheese has a similar fat content to cow cheese, but it is healthier and can be eaten by people that have a low lactose tolerance. Participants will explore goat cheese, learn about its culinary uses, and sample a delicious goat cheese pairing.

NEW! A N.E.W. YOU PROGRAM (Adult)

This N.E.W program will teach you a balance between Nutrition, Exercise and Wellness.

Our Certified personal trainer and wellness coach will work with you one-on-one for three, 30 minute consultation sessions to develop a basic nutrition and exercise program. Our N.E.W You Program is a work on your own, six week, digital exercise format for those individuals who have basic fitness knowledge.

Session One includes an InBody 370 scan and a comprehensive intake with nutrition guidance.

Session Two includes a mid-point evaluation and Q&A.

NUTRITION WORKSHOP: EAT SMART, BE ACTIVE (Ages 18+) (Adult)

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) serves individuals with children in the home, caregivers, grandparents, and expectant parents, as well as young adults 18-26 years (without children). EFNEP can show you how to eat healthier and be more active even on a limited budget. You will learn how to make food choices to improve the quality of the meals you serve to your family. EFNEP offers a series of nine FREE, 60-minute workshops that offer opportunities for discussion, physical activity, and building food resource management skills. You will receive a FREE cookbook, grocery pad, and certificate of completion, as well as a free electric skillet (one per household) from OSU Extension after completing the program.
