 Show statement

“Beginnings” is a story of water and its influence in our lives.

Water is where life starts. It shapes landscapes, nourishes bodies, and stirs emotions.

“Beginnings” is a collection of watercolor works that explore the fluid, ever-present influence of water in our lives—its movement, its memory, and its meaning.

Watercolor, with its natural flow and unpredictability, mirrors the very essence of water itself. Pigments blend and shift, much like rivers carve paths through earth, tides reshape shores, and rain breathes renewal into dry land.

Each piece in this exhibition captures a moment of connection—whether it’s the quiet reflection of a lake at sunset, the powerful surge of an ocean wave, a water-dependent creature, or the release of a splash.

Water is a source of life and a force of change. It finds its level, carries us forward, washes away things we can let go of, and offers new “Beginnings."

Through this collection, I invite you to reflect on the role water plays in your own story—where it has been, where it is going, and the transformations it brings.

Artist bio

I am a self-taught artist who has created my own technique that allows “water to be water.”

Working full time in the corporate world, my process and art explore the balance between constraint and freedom. Water as my medium is perfect! Water and nature have always been there for me in times of joy and times of challenge and loss. Its healing elements are integral to the fabric of my life.

In fact, water in motion creates “ions” which are released into the air. The cool thing is that our bodies absorb these ions and it has positive effects on our bodies and minds. That’s why we love to sit by beaches, watch waves and waterfalls, take a walk after a rainstorm or play in the water.

In my process, I apply deep pigments to clear “moving” water, lifting and tilting the paper to let the color move with the motion of the water. My work is a balance of control and complete freedom, letting the water define the space, creating an abstract view of the healing energy of this powerful natural element.
