Wellness Programs


NEW at the JCC: Nutrition Coaching with registered, licensed dietitian nutritionist, Casey Atkinson, RDN, LD.  

Nutrition is an important part of a successful fitness program and healthy lifestyle.  Nutrition coaching is about behavior modification and learning how to eat for your body.  Casey will work with you to create an individualized plan which will include an InBody 570 scan, recommendations, and tailored education to fit your health needs and lifestyle.

Initial consultation, 60 minute session:
Cost: $80/Member | $100/Non Member

Follow-up Consultation, 30 minute session:
Cost: $40/Member | $50/Non Member

The J-AWAY program is designed to assist homebound Jewish seniors in the Youngstown area who are in need of an exercise program. Our certified personal trainers will create individual exercise plans and train clients in their own homes to help keep our Jewish seniors active and healthy. Each participant will receive a band and hand weights for their training at home. This program is funded by the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.

The Parkinson’s-specific exercises are designed to retrain the mind and body. Many participants report a regained ability to successfully manage the disease, improve their quality of life and take back control over their own body movements. Mobility Movement fitness plans include symptom-specific exercises and also address daily functional challenges, such as rising from a chair, getting out of the car, moving about in big crowds, dressing and getting off the floor. Funding is provided by Mercy Health Foundation and the Thomases Family Endowment of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.

Fitness plans are adapted to all levels of the disease. Symptom-specific exercises target:

  • Altered balance
  • Bradykinesia (slowing of all movements)
  • Depression
  • Diminished voice volume
  • Freezing
  • Masked facial expressions
  • Rigidity (stiffness)
  • Stooped posture
  • Walking/gait
