Learn to Swim
The Learn to Swim program at JCC of Youngstown includes levels to allow students to develop advanced swimming skills. Choose your age level and register for the monthly classes. At the first session, your swimmer will be assessed and placed in the appropriate level. As you take more classes, swimmers will advance through the levels as they master the swimming skills. If you are unsure what level to start from, contact the Aquatics Coordinator to schedule an evaluation.
Saturdays beginning November 7. Ages 3+

Level One: Swimming Fundamentals
An entry-level class for swimmers who are not independent in the water. The focus will be on floating, stroke introduction, and independence in the water.
Level 2: Stroke Development
For swimmers with a basic understanding of swimming who can swim independently for a short distance (five yards). The focus will be on building strength and coordination and developing swimming strokes.
Level 3: Stroke Improvement
For swimmers who can comfortably swim the width of the pool. The focus will be on improving the four competitive strokes: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle, as well as building endurance.
Level 4: Swim Team Prep
For swimmers who can swim at least the length of the pool. Swimmers will work on refining competitive strokes and learn the correct turn for each of them. Swimmers will also master diving and learn how to circle swim.
Swimmers will receive a certificate after each level is completed.
